Biyal-a Armstrong Creek Library has been shortlisted for the 2026 Australian Library Design Awards.
The first civic landmark in Armstrong Creek, Biyal-a is a contemporary library and community hub shaped by inclusive design, sustainability, and cultural storytelling.
“With Biyal-a Armstrong Creek Library, we wanted to create more than a building. Through genuine co-design with the Geelong Regional Libraries Corporation, City of Greater Geelong and Wadawurrung Traditional Owners, we’ve shaped a place that reflects shared values, supports lifelong learning, and fosters a deep sense of belonging.” – Aleksander Borek
“The library has exceeded expectations as a highly functional space for staff and a warm, welcoming environment for the community. Visitors consistently praise it as a tremendous resource. The ability to operate outside staffed hours has only added to that, keeping it a vital hub for learning, collaboration and connection, day and night.” – Justine Hanna, Manager Library Service Operations, Geelong Regional Libraries Corporation
