New appointments boost health, sport and entertainment at Buchan

Three new appointments across global design studio Buchan have expanded the practice’s health, sport, and leisure and entertainment capability.

Lynn Van Dievoort has been appointed a senior associate. With qualifications in urban and spatial design, Van Dievoort has a strategic focus and is adept at managing concurrent projects across all stages from concept to delivery. She has worked in Europe and Australia and her experience in the health and sports sectors includes roles on the Gold Coast Hospital & Health Service Coomera Health Precinct, Blue Care aged care facilities and the Mackay Regional Sports Precinct.

Carol Leung joins Buchan as an associate on the interior design team. As an interior designer and architect, Leung has a strong interest in how people experience space and has led projects in South-East Asia and Australia. Notable projects that Carol has been involved with include the Powerhouse Museum in Parramatta, the $65 million The Star Western Precinct Upgrade, and Icon in Brisbane, a $650 million luxury mixed-use development. Leung has high-level BIM skills and will focus on leisure, entertainment, hotels and mixed-use projects.

My Thuat Ho is a senior project designer with extensive experience working in Australia and Vietnam across a broad range of building types and scales including health, hospitality, mixed-use and multi-residential. She is skilled in planning, design and documentation and is an excellent collaborator. Ho’s focus will be on health, drawing on her experience in senior project coordination roles for Sydney Children’s Hospital, The Children’s Hospital at Westmead and North Shore Health Hub.

Van Dievoort will be based in Brisbane, whilst Leung and Ho will be based in Sydney. Buchan CEO Stephen Auld says new and existing clients will benefit from the international experience that all three bring to the practice. This aligns with Buchan’s one-studio structure that allocates resources based on skillset and capacity, not geography.

“The appointment of these talented individuals builds the diversity of our team as we grow our health capability and continue to expand in the sport, leisure and entertainment sectors,” says Auld. “We welcome Lynn, Carol and My Thuat and look forward to their valued contribution to Buchan’s culture of design and delivery excellence.”
