Buchan has been involved with the redevelopment of Belmont Forum through many stages since it first opened in the 1960's, and has recently completed a staged redevelopment of the centre, including a new supermarket, children's play area, green outdoor space, a Fresh Food Precinct, Food Court, and Dining Precinct.
The new Dining Precinct at Belmont Forum has created a vibrant pedestrian friendly environment, inviting and protected from both traffic and climate, and rich in texture and experience. The Precinct includes public seating, a performance stage, and hybrid urban furniture that encourages interaction in unexpected ways. The team and the client shared a vision for a vibrant place for the wider community.
The redevelopment has created a pedestrian friendly and high-density environment which is the shared vision for the future of this part of Belmont. The new garden adjacent the Fresh Food Precinct forms part of a journey connecting the shopping centre with the new civic centre across Wright Street, and provides an occasion for play, social activities and display of public art. Modern interiors, new entry statements, upgraded parking and revitalised retail offer add to the customer experience. Sustainability issues were considered throughout the design and construction of the project.
